What does the CafeMom Toolbar do?
The CafeMom Toolbar allows you to add SweetPeas (smileys) and signatures to almost any site on the internet. It can paste directly into rich-text-enabled websites, and for plain text sites, it will give you the HTML code that you can paste yourself. The Toolbar currently does not support BBCode sites.
What browsers and operating systems does the CafeMom Toolbar support?Right now, the CafeMom Toolbar works in Internet Explorer 6 and 7 on Windows XP and Vista, as well as Firefox 1.5+ for Windows and Macintosh. We don't have any plans to create the toolbar for any other browsers unfortunately.
How can I use SweetPeas or signatures in my email or instant messenger?The CafeMom Toolbar only works with web sites. If you use Yahoo! Mail, GMail, Hotmail, or another email system that is on the web, you can paste SweetPeas and signatures. However, if you use a separate email program like Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, or Eudora, you can't currently paste SweetPeas or signatures into those programs. We are looking into supporting this in the future. The Toolbar also will not work with instant messenger programs right now.
Do I need to be a CafeMom member to use the CafeMom Toolbar?No! Anyone can use the CafeMom Toolbar to add SweetPeas to their pages. However, if you want to use signatures, you will need to become a CafeMom member. In addition, to get updates about your CafeMom account you will need to be a CafeMom member.
How do I know when there's something new for me on CafeMom?There are four buttons in the CafeMom toolbar, just to the right of the "Add Signature" button. They will "light up" when you have a new message, new reply to a post, new reply to a photo, or new post in your chatterbox. Just click the button to go to that page on CafeMom -- you may need to login to CafeMom to access certain pages.
Why can't I use signatures or get updates on my CafeMom account?If you are already a CafeMom member, just click the "Log in to Toolbar" button at the left of your toolbar. Enter you CafeMom screen name and password, and you will get access to those features. If you are not already a CafeMom member and want to use these features, click the Join Now button in the toolbar, or Sign up now!
Why is the toolbar telling me it can't paste a SweetPea into this site?The toolbar will try to paste the SweetPea you select into the particular text field you have selected on a page. If you have selected a text field that is not "rich-text" enabled, it wil tell you that, and will give you HTML to paste into that field. If a page has multiple text boxes on it, make sure your cursor is in the rich-text area when you try to add a SweetPea.
How do I get my new signature to show up in the toolbar?It can take about 15 minutes for your toolbar to update when you change one of your signatures. Just wait a little bit and you'll be on your way. If you can't wait, press the "Refresh your Toolbar" button once you have saved your new signature and your new signature will be available.
I'm trying to add my signature to a page, but it isn't working, why?If you try to paste a rich-text signature into a site that does not accept them, nothing will happen. You should select a plain-text signature from the toolbar to paste into that site.
I have a new message, but it isn't showing up in the toolbar, why?The toolbar "checks in" with CafeMom every 15 minutes, so it's possible it just hasn't been updated yet. If the toolbar often is not up to date, please Contact Us and give us any details you can to help figure out the problem. If you can't wait, you can press the "Refresh the Toolbar" button and that will check for new activity on the site.
I'm logged into CafeMom but the toolbar isn't working. What do I do?You have to log into the toolbar and CafeMom separately. They aren't connected, so if something isn't working right, make sure you are logged into both!
If I change my password on CafeMom, do I need to change my password in the toolbar?Yes. Since the toolbar and the site are separate, you'll need to change your password in the toolbar once you change it on CafeMom. If you don't, the next time you start your browser you won't be able to use the CafeMom members only toolbar features.
